Idaho Cycling Enthusiasts Mission Statement and Description:
Idaho Cycling Enthusiasts (“ICE”) was founded in 1997 “to encourage bicycle riding, to promote a healthy lifestyle, provide recreational opportunities and demonstrate that cycling is a practical means of transportation.” ICE is the current incarnation of what over the years has been a sequence of bicycle clubs in the Pocatello area. ICE puts on a number of competitive road racing events as well as a local flat and uphill time trial series every summer.
ICE memberships are $25 for individuals and $35 for families, with an additional $15 for those riders who want to be eligible to win club championship jerseys in the Best All-Around Rider (BAR) series. Further, ICE members are now given automatic membership into the Pocatello Triathlon Club and can enjoy the membership benefits of this awesome community organization as well! ICE membership benefits include discounts at Barrie’s Ski and Sports, Rob’s Ride On Bikes and Snow, Kirk’s Kruisers, Idaho Mountain Trading, Bill’s Bike Shop, and Alpine Cyclery, free entry to the time trial series, and reduced entry fees to all other club events. Plus, members get to enjoy being a part of a growing community of healthy, fun-loving two-wheeled athletes in southeastern Idaho. Most club members are from Pocatello, but the club has a growing number of members from outside Pocatello, including Idaho Falls and other upper valley cities, the Bear Lake area, and Salt Lake City. ICE is a club member of the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), USA Cycling (USAC), and the International Mountain Biking Association. Noncompetitive ICE events (including the time trial series) are held under LAB insurance, and the Tax Day, Garden Creek, Gate City, and Allan Butler Criterium races are held under USAC insurance.
The Pocatello Triathlon Club is an arm of the Idaho Cycling Enthusiasts (ICE). Poky TRI was formed in 2008 after a group of enthusiastic local triathletes got together with the desire to start a local club where people of all athletic abilities could find camaraderie and people with whom they could swim, bike and run. We are a diverse group of individuals from throughout Eastern Idaho who share a common interest in multi-sport activities. The club and its activities are open to all those interested, with beginner triathletes especially welcome! We also welcome duathletes, cyclists, runners and other multi-sporters. Our members range in age from beginners to seasoned veterans.
The Mission of the Pocatello Triathlon Club is to promote the educational pursuit of triathlon, general physical fitness, and the educational pursuit of triathlon, general physical fitness, and the representation of the sport of triathlon within the community of Eastern Idaho. The club is further committed to strengthening and advancing the sport within that community. We fulfill our mission by hosting group training activities, clinics, races, and social gatherings.
